Haslett teacher reveals ‘drunk shaming’ by fellow employees
Bias would be related specifcally to those who's job it is to report not opine. Under that criteria your list would be very short which says something about the amount of reporters covering the capitol these days.
My most bias list would go Chris Christoff, Dawson Bell and thats about it, blame the Free Press for allowing their writers to air their opinions then limiting them to just reporting.
I don't agree with you, but really, that's one of the main goals of Michigan Messenger; to foster debate and discussion. I suppose I could be a bit of a smart aleck and say that according to the right all of the media is liberal anyway, so it makes no sense to single anyone out. However, that's simply not true. I also disagree that the people on the list are not journalists. However, you are correct that there is a lack of reporters covering the Capitol. MIRS and Gongwer do an excellent job of covering the Capitol, but they do not byline their stories. I place a lot more trust in something when I know who to go to when there is a mistake. I think something that is overlooked is the job bloggers have done covering Lansing, and they have picked up the slack in covering the Capitol. I think that was demonstrated during the all-night budget sessions.
WJR was once one of my favorite stations too, back when it had the Lions, Tigers, Pistons and J.P. McCarthy. Back when I was in the Navy and would drive home on leave once a year I knew I was getting close when I picked up WJR. I once picked up WJR and Ernie Harwell doing a Tiger's game one night on the eastern shore of Maryland while driving from Virginia to NYC.
However, we liberals do have our own biased commentators/journalists. Three examples include:
1. Chad Selewski of the Macomb Daily (wish he'd resign from that right leaning paper and work PR/Media for the MDP).
2. Mitch Albom (needs to leave WJR for 1310AM and start a local progressive talk show).
3. Laura Berman of the News (she should give up Feature and do Liberal Political commentary, possibly a Blog).
Anyway, that's my thoughts...
I have never heard of Chad Selewski, so I cannot talk about him. If Mitch Albom left WJR al there would be nothing but conservative voices. I do not consider Mitch Albom a liberal commentator. He is one of the best and most well known sports reporters in the country. When was the last time Sean Hanity or Rush Limbaugh talked about the new Lions coach or the Tigers chance to get in the playoffs? Laura Berman is strictly a columnist, but unlike Nolan Finely, she does not drive the positions of the editorial page.
Great to see you here!
