Eartha, just want you to know how much I appreciate you on your coverage of medical marijuana. I am a 42 year old lups patient and have been on so many pain killers I just refuse to take them anymore. The damage the pharmacuticals do to your other organs is just criminal. God gave us this plant for many reasons. Not only does it detoxify the body, it drastically lowers cholesterol and dialates blood vessles. In Canada, they use marijuana specifically for dialiating the blood to cure diabetic blindness, being the eyes are the smalles vessels we have in our bodies they again begin to see. Please go to meijers and buy Efagold Hemp powder in the vitamin section and see all of the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and all of the Omega's it has in it. PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND EDUCATE THE PEOPLE TO THE HEALTH BENEFITS. Thank you Eartha!

I don't smoke it...eat it or grow it, but as a nurse I am 100% in favor in loosening up the chains and letting it be available for those who really need it...

Those of us who are in the know, know that we need a mayoral candidate that supports DPS. Charter schools add to the furthur destruction of DPS. Yes, as a teacher in the system, many things need an overhaul but no one is willing to admit two things. One, our schools are only as good as the families that send their children- too many kids are sent to schools unprepared and undisciplined. Two, the mismanagement of funds and corruption that has gone on for years has nothing to do with the principals or teachers. Finally, only a wise mayoral candidate would know that trying to get the city of Detroit back on track doesn't need to take over the school system too. Running the city is enough of a task within itself. Candidates who want to control the city and the school system simply want more power.

We have a budgetary problem in Michigan, but this is just the beginning.
We the people, who elected you, are living on declining salaries, but government employees are receiving raises like nothing happened in this economic mess. I just don’t understand why you won’t influence lawmakers to clean this budgetary mess.
From my personal experience, which required obtaining legal documents from the county court, I witnessed that the traffic in the court buildings was almost non-existent. Based on the information I obtained from people working in the court, they told me that the court is busy only on Wednesday from 9 AM till noon.
Therefore, to improve the budgetary problem for Michigan, I strongly suggest reducing the personnel working for the judicial system.
Other actions that should be taken are:
    1. Reduce the number of judges and staff
    2. Reduce salaries for the judges, at least by 40%
    3. Reduce salaries across the board for all state county employees by 20%
    4. Reduce the Supreme Court judges from Lansing Michigan from 7 to 5, including reduction of the salaries of remaining judges by 40%
    5. Eliminate matching funds for retirement of State employees

I just do not understand why you never question the excessive salaries of the judicial system.
I just don’t understand why you don’t question the special privileges of retiring state employees
I just don’t understand why you are passing laws to protect the state employee’s retirement from garnishment, but not for the rest of the people.

I personaly don’t like budgetary cuts from schools and health care for the people.
Who pay, for this mess and preserves the master race – the judicial system and the state employees?.

Why is the system so corrupted?

I will appreciate your answer to at least one question.

I believe most of you are living in denial and believe that the economy will change soon. I hope so, but this
    won’t happen.

Therefore, start reducing as a first step, the judicial system, because we are refusing to support the master race.

    Regards
    John

First, let it be known that I am a non-smoker and I'm sick and tired of the way tobacco addicts demand that they be allowed to fill public areas with a messy and dangerous toxin. As a dancer, I have never appreciated having to weigh the enjoyment of a good club and great music against the prospect of the smoke hangover the next day, not to mention having to wash the tar and other smoke toxins out of my clothes before I can put them away.
It is a shame that we cannot retroactively charge the smokers of the last century for the increases in cancer, asthma and other breathing ailments .
That having been said, I think we should also be on the alert as citizens for making smokers taxees of convenience, instead of facing the fact that those of us above the poverty line can afford to give back a bit more of the bounty this state has given us.

Just read your stories and blogs on Fenner Arboretum sex sting by the Lansing Police Department. As a concerned citizen and a retired civilian employee of LPD, I'd like to voice my perspective regarding the undercover operation and the request from Police Commissioner Jan Kolp to address possible sexual activity at the Arboretum. Commissioner Kolp is a friend, but most importantly, she is a citizen of Lansing and has a right and responsibility to report any probable illegal activities taking place in her neighborhood to the authorities. Fenner Arboretum is a public facility and is frequented by school children on field trips, families and the general public. Any indecent exposure, sexual activity, etc. taking place on Arboretum's grounds, whether heterosexual or homosexual, is strictly illegal and should not be tolerated by the community. Lt. Larry Klaus, also a friend, is a dedicated and decorated police officer with many years of service to the Lansing community. I know him to be honest, unbiased and loyal to the citizenry. I trust his judgment that an undercover operation was necessary, since uniformed officers cannot police the Arboretum 24/7. I believe LPD puts the highest priority on the safety and well being of all Lansing citizens and am proud to be associated with them. My hope is that the gay community take a step back and look at the issue of any sexual activity in public places as inappropriate and actively support the police for taking action.
