<rss version="2.0"><channel><title>The Michigan Messenger - Latest Comments in New report sheds light on firing of U.S. attorney from Michigan</title><link>http://michiganmessenger.disqus.com/</link><description></description><language>en</language><lastBuildDate>Fri, 01 Aug 2008 09:16:48 -0000</lastBuildDate><item><title>Re: New report sheds light on firing of U.S. attorney from Michigan</title><link>http://www.michiganmessenger.com/1631/new-report-sheds-light-on-firing-of-us-attorney-from-michigan#comment-1663522</link><description>&lt;strong&gt;Probably more&lt;/strong&gt; Ever wonder why the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan left after only two years in office during Bush's first term?&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Me too, still wondering.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Ever wonder why Alberto Gonzales showed up in Michigan a scant two weeks before he announced his resignation last August, bringing a couple million in grants with him for Native American tribes?&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Still makes me scratch me head a year later; after systematically canning close to a third of the members of the Native American Issues Subcommittee -- including its chair, Margaret Chiara -- he shows up with money for the tribes??&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Not that I begrudge the tribes help with law enforcement; the optics are just bad.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;We will be cleaning up this mess for a decade to come, maybe more if the Siegelman case is any indication.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">LoRayne Apo-Joynt</dc:creator><pubDate>Fri, 01 Aug 2008 09:16:48 -0000</pubDate></item><item><title>Re: New report sheds light on firing of U.S. attorney from Michigan</title><link>http://www.michiganmessenger.com/1631/new-report-sheds-light-on-firing-of-us-attorney-from-michigan#comment-1663521</link><description>&lt;strong&gt;This Isn't the Only Instance Where the Stench of the DOJ . . .&lt;/strong&gt; Politicization Has Reached Michigan&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Just off hand I would point to the cases of Jeffrey Feiger and Carl Marlinga.&amp;nbsp; Both charged with crimes purely brought on because they were targeted by the GOP.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Carl Marlinga was running for Congress as a democrat when he was charged with bribery.&amp;nbsp; Not only was he aquitted, the jury took him out to lunch because they felt so bad about what happened to him.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Jeffrey Feiger seems to have been targeted because he dared contribute to John Edwards' campaign.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;There must be other cases as well but those are the only ones I know of personally.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">misskitty64</dc:creator><pubDate>Fri, 01 Aug 2008 07:40:02 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
